VDA 275

Formaldehyde Emission

The VDA 275 is a test procedure formulated for components of the automotive interior. It determines the amount of formaldehyde emission. Formaldehyde is a gas of penetrative smell, irritating eyes and respiratory system, and is classified as a human carcinogen.

Due to its widespread use as base product of dyes or resins, a VDA 275 is often mandatory and stipulated e.g. by  Daimler Chrysler, Ford and Porsche.

Similar tests are formulated by VW/Audi in PV3925, BMW in AA-0061 and in GMs GMW15635.
